Image::PNG::FileConvert is a "module" for the Perl computer programming language, a library of computer code to install on a computer. This document contains four sections: 1. About - what the module does 2. Documentation - how to learn more about the module 3. Installation - how to install this module on a computer 4. Help - what to do if you get stuck ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1. ABOUT Image::PNG::FileConvert - put a file into a PNG image This module can convert any arbitrary data file, either binary or text, into a PNG image. PNG (Portable Network Graphics) is a lossless image format. (See "Image::PNG::Libpng/SEE ALSO" for details about the PNG format.) Lossless means that there is no loss of data; whatever data is put into the original image can always be recovered exactly. This module takes advantage of that to use PNG image format to store arbitrary data under the guise of a PNG image. This module is very simplistic, and should be considered an example of the use of "Image::PNG::Libpng". If you need to do more complex things than this module provides, please consider reading the source code of this module as a starting point for making your own functions. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2. DOCUMENTATION You can read the documentation for the module online at the following websites: * http://search.cpan.org/perldoc?Image::PNG::FileConvert * http://metacpan.org/release/Image-PNG-FileConvert (These links go to the latest version of the module.) After installing the module, you can read the documentation on your computer using perldoc Image::PNG::FileConvert ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3. INSTALLATION This module requires Perl version 5.8.1 or later. To install the module from CPAN, use cpan Image::PNG::FileConvert If you have the App::cpanminus installer, you may prefer cpanm Image::PNG::FileConvert To install the module from the source file, Image-PNG-FileConvert-0.10.tar.gz, follow this sequence of commands: tar xfz Image-PNG-FileConvert-0.10.tar.gz cd Image-PNG-FileConvert-0.10 perl Makefile.PL make make install If you want to test the module before installing it, use "make test" after "make" and before "make install". ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- 4. HELP To get help with the module, you can email the author, Ben Bullock, at . If you think there is a problem in the module, you can report a bug at , or if you want to alter the source code of Image::PNG::FileConvert, try the public repository on github at . ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- This README was written on Sat Oct 14 16:32:04 2017. -----------------------------------------------------------------------------
